Under this program, a permanent, classified County
employee is eligible to receive a day off with pay
if he or she refers a candidate who is hired by the
County for a permanent position. The employee is eligible
for the day off regardless of where the referred candidate
is hired. For example, if a BCC employee refers a
candidate who is hired in the Property Appraiser's
Office, the BCC employee is eligible for the day off
with pay.
This policy covers any candidate who is newly hired
and was referred by an existing employee. The candidate
must indicate the name of the employee who did the
referral. The following rules will apply:
- The one (1) day (representative
number of hours) must be taken concurrently -
no allowances for partial days
- The one (1) day must be scheduled
in advance
- The one (1) day must be taken
within six (6) months of being awarded
- Only one (1) employee will be
awarded the day off per candidate hired. However,
there is no limit to the number of days an employee
can qualify for
- Exempt employees and Human Resources
Department employees are not eligible. In addition,
any supervisor who is responsible for selection
shall not be awarded a day off for the referral
of an individual who will work under his or her
direct supervision
