Tips on Testing
We hope the following information will be beneficial when you take a Unified Personnel System examination. The information is broken down by type of selection procedure.
Tips on taking a Written Exam
Tips on taking an Unassembled Examination (Supplemental Questionnaire)
Some things to do when preparing for the test:
- Be well rested before taking the test so you will be alert and thinking clearly.
- Learn all you can (study if necessary) about the job classification before the test. Job descriptions are available in the Human Resources Department (and on the Human Resources Department's web site). The Job Descriptions will provide information about the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
- Each recruitment requires each candidate to submit to the Human Resources Department a completed Supplemental Questionnaire. You will need to review and update, if necessary, the information contained in the application and complete the Supplemental Questionnaire. The Supplemental Questionnaire is job specific and requests information regarding your education, training and experience as it relates to the job classification being recruited for.
- Read each test question carefully. Be sure you understand what the question is asking before your attempt to answer the question.
- It is very important that you keep your online Application form up to date. This includes information on education, places employed, dates employed, job duties, etc. You may add a resume if you wish, but a completed application form is mandatory.
