Q: Who will be judging the artwork?
A: The show will be judged by art professionals
Q: Can one entry win two awards, such as 1st Place Intermediate and Best of Show?
A: Yes
Q: Can the same participant with two entries
win more than one award (for example, 1st and 2nd place) in their classification?
A: Yes.
Q: I wouldn’t want to be disqualified and wanted to check on the limits on the size of any piece of hanging artwork. What about vertical verses horizontal?
A: Regardless of whether the piece is a vertical or horizontal, all 2-dimensional artwork must
measure no more than 36” in any direction, including frame, or weigh more than
40 pounds.
Q: If I enter two pieces of artwork will both of my entries be represented in the exhibit?
A: Every participant will be represented in
the exhibit. However, if the number of entries exceeds the display space limitations,
the jurors will have the discretion of selecting one piece that they feel best
represents the artist's work for display. Both submissions will be judged.
Q: My question is about submitting photographs.
I realize that the work cannot measure more than 36" - but do you want photographs
to be any specific size? Is a 4 x 6 snapshot size acceptable? Also - since
a photograph is a 1-dimensional entry - does the photograph "have" to
be mounted or framed?
A: Artworks are only classified as 2 or 3-Dimensional,
never 1-Dimensional. That being said, the second bullet under PREPARING ENTRIES
states: All 2-Dimensional entries should be ready to hang: framed or hard board
mounted and matted with ID label on back. The only size requirement is the
one you referenced which limits the maximum size and weight of the artwork.

Q: My partner and I have lived together for
many years, but we just don't believe in marriage. I'm a County employee but
she is not. She's very talented and I wanted to know if she was eligible to enter
the art show.
A: Yes. Your Domestic Partner is eligible to
participate. We do ask that you provide some documentation to verify that you
have a formalized relationship such as both names on a rental agreement, mortgage
or utility bill, bank account or bank loan, or similar documentation.
Q: My art form is quilting. I have a quilt I would like to submit to the Employee Art Show, but it exceeds the "...36" in any direction including frame or weigh more than 40 pounds unless otherwise stipulated". Does this mean I can't enter this in the show?
A: Quilts, unless they are able to be framed, would require special hanging. Therefore they do not fall under the 36" rule. Quilts would likely be folded over a dowel and suspended from the ceiling for display. Because they will need to be folded for hanging, the entire art pattern will not be visible while the piece is on display. However, they will be displayed fully open during the judging process so that the judges can see the entire art piece.
Q: Is it important that I frame my artwork? I was thinking about just mounting it to a piece of foamcore.
A: Framing your artwork helps showcase your art and show it to its best advantage. The jurors do consider the entire presentation in judging the artwork.
