At the discretion of the Appointing Authority, an
employee may be considered for a pro-rated merit
increase which will be effective the same date as
a promotion or reclassification, provided the employee
is not serving an initial probationary
period and/or is not at the maximum of the current
pay grade. This consideration is based upon the
employee's performance in the job classification
the employee is being promoted/reclassified out
of.
A pro-rate is calculated by the number of pay periods
worked prior to the promotion/reclassification
versus the number of pay periods that would have
been required for a normal merit review. The prorated
increase is applied to the hourly rate before the
increase for the promotion/reclassification is
calculated. Questions on how to process pro-rated merits should be directed to our Employee Records Administration's staff at 464-3082.
