Pinellas County Employee Walking Program 2011

The Employee Walking Program started October 18th and it is new and improved.  Pinellas County employees are invited to join coworkers and WALK your way to a healthier YOU this fall.  All County worksites are encouraged to start a group and take an active role in your health.

If not, start one! It is easy to start a team and lots of fun!  Decide on what days and time your group wants to walk, recruit some coworkers to join you, register your team and start walking. 

How do I register? Each participant must complete a registration form and return to your team captain. The captain will complete the team registrations which are due by October 14th. 

How do we track what we walk? Easy! Use the Walking Tracking Sheet to track walking you do with the team.  At least two team members must be walking together to count towards your team's total.  At the end of the month, turn in your total to your captain. Your captain will turn in your team totals.

Maps calculating the distance of walking routes at your worksite are available.  If you would like a route calculated please contact the employee wellness program, wellness@pinellascounty.org. 

Win the quarterly GOLDEN SNEAKER walking team challenge!!!
The Golden Sneaker Award will be awarded to a team each quarter throughout the Walking Program season.  The winner will be based on average of tracked distance per team member.  Team members must be listed on the team registration form to be included in the team’s average. 

Please email your walking Tracking Sheet to wellness@pinellascounty.org. Team tracking sheets need to be turned in by the 20th of each month.     

Once you join a team, you can also start tracking your distance through the free Start Walking Program. Register and start using My Start! Online now! Interactive maps let you know how far you are walking and track your distance. Each employee is challenged to walk four miles a week.

My Start Registration Directions: Register under Pinellas County Government, for department please use the full name and make sure to check all four boxes at the bottom of the page to allow your name to be added to the County group.
