 Deferred Compensation

Employees may choose to participate in the Deferred Compensation Plan provided for in Internal Revenue Code Section 457. This is similar to a 401(k) plan in private sector employment. This is an employee funded plan. The County does not contribute to your Deferred Compensation plan. You may select a wide variety of investment options to fund your account. The administrators are VALIC, ICMA-RC, The Hartford, and Nationwide Retirement Solutions. Clicking on Deferred Comp Plan Information will provide you a list of vendors, and names and contacts for their local representatives assigned to Pinellas County. Employees may enroll at any time throughout the year.

Individualized retirement planning and investment strategies are available from the respective deferred comp representatives. You may participate in one or more plan up to the dollar limit allowed by law. Once yearly, usually in September, employees have an opportunity to attend informational meetings presented by representatives from the different plans. At any time throughout the year you are encouraged to call Benefits for general information, enrollment forms, or plan description booklets.
