Worknet Pinellas Training
Additional training is available through WorkNet Pinellas Link to external site. They can help provide some valuable tools such as:

New from WorkNet Pinellas: On the Job Training (OJT) Program.  In order to promote reintegration into the workforce, WorkNet has established an On the Job Training program. OJT is provided under a contract with an employer in the public, private non-profit, or private sector. Through the OJT contract, occupational training is provided for the trainee in exchange for the reimbursement of up to 50 percent of the wage rate to compensate for the employer's training costs for a period not to exceed 10 weeks.  For more information contact Mahalia Guichard at mguichard@worknetpinellas.org or (727) 608-2497.

St. Petersburg College Classes - Learn to Earn
Technology, Career Preparation, Administrative Tools (Microsoft Office), and others. Many are only $25 for a three hour class.

Career Exploration Program (CEP)
St. Petersburg College's Career Exploration Program offers several standard tests and inventories to help you define your career personality style and identify matching occupations.

Entrepreneur Training
If you are transitioning in your career or ever thought of starting and managing your own business, consider entrepreneurship. It takes hard work, dedication, research and planning. The Pinellas County Business Development Center offers:

  • business development training for emerging entrepreneurs and start-up businesses
  • Each month we offer five core seminars that serves as a roadmap for developing a business plan.
  • We also host marketing workshops to help you build a strategic marketing campaign with limited resources.
  • With over 100 entrepreneurial training seminars conducted each year, you can sharpen your business skills and design a blueprint for success by attending our business development training series. 
  • Additionally, we have a resource library filled with the latest resources from How to Manuals to Step by Step Start-Up guides. 
  • Our How to Start a Business class is free and available to you every Tuesday, Noon – 2:00 pm.

Any Pinellas County employee impacted by layoffs can attend any of the Pinellas County Economic Development Business Development Center Entrepreneurial Training Class for free. To obtain the waiver to attend these classes for free or to make your reservation, please contact Yolanda Cowart at 727-453-7228 or by email at ycowart@pinellascounty.org.
