What other medical resources are available to me?
Medical plan coverage other than the Pinellas County Group Health Plan is available on an individual basis through UnitedHealthOne at www.goldenrule.com or by calling 1-800-444-8990.There are choices such as copay plans, high deductible plans and short term plans.
Blue Cross Blue Shield is also a provider of individual plans. If you are under age 65, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida offers a range of products to suit a variety of needs. If you are looking for temporary coverage, a major medical insurance policy, traditional or comprehensive coverage or a plan that is compatible with a Health Savings Account.

Finding individual health insurance for your family can be confusing. They provide several tools to help you make better choices.
Cover Florida allows insurers to create innovative health insurance products that are affordable and guaranteed to Floridians who have been without insurance for at least six months, or who are recently unemployed – even if there are pre-existing health conditions. The coverage is voluntary for both individuals and for employers, and employees can even take their coverage with them if they change jobs.
HealthCare.gov is a federal website that provides resources on private insurance plans, public programs, and community services that are available to you.

Florida State Health Insurance - provides options for those that have been denied health insurance coverage or for those that do not have the financial resources to pay the hefty insurance premiums for private insurance.

Florida KidCare is the state’s children’s health insurance program for uninsured children under age 19.
It includes four different parts, or programs: MediKids, Healthy Kids, Children's Medical Services and Medicaid. When you apply for the insurance, Florida KidCare will check which program your child may be eligible for based on age and family income. Florida KidCare also offers several ways for you to pay your monthly premium. There are several ways to apply for Florida KidCare:
If you find that you are unable to participate in other insurance plans, perhaps you will find benefits available through the Pinellas County Health Department . Information can be found at www.pinellashealth.com or perhaps by calling 727-820-4242. They have primary care services for those that are uninsured.

2-1-1 is the one place to call for information on where you can “Find Help or Give Help” in our community. 2-1-1 call center services provide callers in need with crisis intervention as well as information about and referrals to human services and civic involvement opportunities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week such as:
- Basic Human Needs Resources: food banks, clothing closets, shelters, rent assistance, utility assistance.
- Physical and Mental Health Resources: health insurance programs, Medicaid and Medicare, maternal health, Children’s Health Insurance Program, medical information lines, crisis intervention services, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation.
- Work Supports: financial assistance, job training, transportation assistance, education programs.
- Support for Older Americans and Persons with Disabilities: adult day care, congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, respite care, home health care, transportation, homemaker services.
- Children, Youth and Family Supports: child care, after school programs, Head Start, family resource centers, summer camps and recreation programs, mentoring, tutoring, protective services.
- Civic Involvement Opportunities: food pantry donation opportunities, tutoring and mentoring opportunities, donation opportunities for businesses, and holiday volunteer and donation opportunities.
