Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

You may have enrolled into the County Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for either your medical expenses or dependent care expenses.

About your FSA Health Care Account:

  • Your enrollment in the Flexible Spending Account ends at the end of the month of your last day of employment.

  • By federal law, any remaining balance in your account is forfeited unless you have receipts for services that took place prior to your coverage end date. An example of these expenses would be doctor visits, dental expenses, prescription copays, or vision care expenses that took place prior to your separation date, but you simply have not submitted them to Wageworks yet.

  • You will have up to 90 days from the date of your separation from service to submit receipts for expenses that occurred prior to the end of your coverage to WageWorks, the administrator of the FSA for reimbursement.

The FSA Health Care Account benefit may be continued through COBRA. You may decide to use this option if you have a significant amount of funds that are still unused in your FSA account and anticipate significant expenses to arise. The information regarding the continuation of the coverage will be forwarded to you by the WageWorks administrator.

About your FSA Dependent Care Account:

  • The FSA Dependent Care Account benefit may not be continued through COBRA.

The WageWorks site at www.wageworks.com Link to External Site can provide you claim forms, balance inquiries, and a detailed list of eligible expenses.
